I wanted to become an artist
When I was a kid, I studied art and dreamt of becoming an artist. When I grew up, I realized that it is actually not a stable and well-paid job, so I decided to get a degree in design and architecture. My specialization was “architectural space design”. After graduation I received a job offer from Kazakhstan TV Channel – there I worked as a graphic artist in cooperation with 3D designer. For some period of time I worked in TV, but then my strong and genuine desire to move on and try something new led me to the famous company BS Graphics, where I worked for more than 2 years. After that I even had experience of working at “Perviy” TV channel – for example, we created graphics for the program “New Wonders of the World”. But the show was ahead of its time – it needed graphics that we could not create because of the budget limits and lack of possibilities. After a while we had started our own studio that became later a part of Vizart.
True development is only possible if you push boundaries
The key thing in design is to follow new trends and someone’s great ideas. Of course, not in order to steal and copy them, but inspire and try something different yourself. I actually struggle a lot, when doing monotonous work. Hence, there is a thing I especially love about my job – mobility. My tasks are always different, so I am never bored. Sometimes I work on a particular task already anticipating another, because I love the feeling when a new task surfaces. But it can be hard to enjoy this feeling, if there is non-stop job stream.
If you look at our work, you may see that it is all different. There are studios that have their own style and strictly follow it, but, in my opinion, development is only possible if you push boundaries and have no limits. If you do the same all the time, it gets hard to create new ideas.
I would have become a lighthouse keeper
If I hadn’t dedicated my life to computer graphics and design, I would have become a lighthouse keeper. I could not imagine myself as an office or a factory worker – it is boring to me. Manual work is monotonous. But I am sure I would enjoy being a lighthouse keeper.
